Summertimes Here.

SUMMER TIME
Sitting in the garden enjoying the morning sun Silence only interrupted by birdsong and insect hum Multi coloured butterfly's flutter by on silent wing Ever shrub and flower stretching up to reach the sun

Through the silence you almost hear the sound of buds opening Revealing a myriad of colours and shapes of shining petals Bees darting past legs heavy with pollen returning to the hive Spiders constructing silken webs which gently move in the wind
Roses so perfectly formed fill the air with such sweet scent The sacred bleeding heart hangs heavy with blossom bowing Fuchsias in full bloom like hundreds of ballerinas dance and sway Everything in the garden alive enjoying a brand new day
A squirrel sits on top of the garden shed enjoying natures bounty The green man looks out from between the leaves and branches An insect house on the fence alive with activity all is well The ornamental wizard stands and points as if casting a spell
The sun shines down on the upturned faces of the flowers Different grasses sway in reverence in the enchanted garden Where stargazy hares look on beside the meditating Buddha A cherub stands beside the tree gazes on in sweet serenity
The acer with branches spread wide red leaves like a parasol Casting a shadow on the ground protecting what is underneath The willow weeps in majestic silence over rocks from so far off beach Fruit canes in bloom with promise of fruit stretch as far as they can reach
A cat sleeps on the window sill another asleep in a tree The dog resting then barking at any sound as though to protect A wise old owl asleep in a tree a Dragon fly glides on by Its all so beautiful nature at its most magnificent wild and alive

The Arrival of Autumn.

Autumn
As we say farewell to summer and welcome Autumn to the Earth When orange, yellow and golden leaves are falling from the trees Crisp, golden crunching underfoot as you walk across the forest floor Fluttering in the air appearing to be dancing on the daytime breeze

As the leaves of summer grow towards their allotted life end From green they become full of light and vibrant colour The Earth allows itself to be inhaled in one deep breath Hill tops are shrouded in the early mornings fog
Waterways covered in mist dancing like sprites in the canvas of the morning Overhead in the clearing sky the sound of migrating birds Breath becomes visible when exhaled into the cold air Children excited for the coming soon of Halloween
Fruit and vegetables are ripe for picking in multi coloured hue Boxes being filled with produce for harvest festival A celebration of mother natures abundant pantry Sharing the toil of the sweat of the brow with all
Pumpkins are being carved with faces which cast an eerie glow Pumpkin soup and crusty bread being lovingly prepared Children in ghoulish costumes saying trick or treat All hoping that they get something soft and sweet

Winters Here.

Winter
The snow lays in a blanket A million diamonds shining bright Shimmering in the moonlight On this dark and starry night

A million glittering gemstones Illuminate the carpet of snow Frosty patterns on the window The amazing Art of nature on show
The stars up in the heavens twinkle Lights on the snow dancing free Icicles hanging from the branches In the hedgerow on the trees
The holly with blood red berries The ivy that clings to the tree A mystical, magical wonderland Is there for everyone to see
The frost is clinging to the cobwebs Everything is shining bright Just like a million diamonds shining From a virginal snow so clean so white

Springtime In Ottringham.

Springtime
Shaking off their winter cloak of cold and darkness Bulbs underground begin to push through the Earth Sending out a shoot reaching to meet the day light air Life emerging from what looked dead a brand new birth

Waiting and pushing through the soil to be born To explode from within their shroud of green A plethora of petals a kaleidascope of colours Jus waiting for that moment that they will be seen
Pushing higher and higher as though to touch the sky Buds appear, the snowdrop, harebell and bluebell sprout Slowly bursting free unravelling the grave clothes of winter Exploding in a myriad of magical colours coming out
The woodland floor which was so cold and bare Now a carpet of colour all reflecting the morning light Nature showing off with such beauty and grace Filling the air with a sweet perfume so sublime
The trees which stood so bare now green again New branches growing from those ancient roots They have stood for hundreds of years so tall and proud Leaves are showing through new twigs ,new shoots
The animals which have hibernated through the cold Chasing each other through the hedgerows and fields Playing and enjoying the this brand new creation The beginnings of life everywhere as winter yields
A whole new world of colour from what was dark The wonder of nature as it celebrates new birth The cycle of life begins againand beauty abounds This is our amazing world the seasons of planet Earth

Memorial Sunday in Ottringham.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Christmas Lights go on in Ottringham.

Christmas
Christmas carols coming from all the shops Mince pies on sale always a sure sign In the air the aroma of mulled wine Christmas trees everywhere the smell of pine

Santa's grotto appears in the shopping center Happy smiling elves chatting to wide eyed children Walking past the reindeer and Santa's sleigh Exited children all waiting for Christmas day
The old Christmas sit com's are all on TV A sense of well being is on the air Decorations adorn houses with light A nativity scene such a beautiful sight
Children writing letters to Father Christmas Hoping that they will get the toy they want Wondering if they have been good girls and boys Hoping Santa will deliver that one special toy
Christmas markets The smell of roasting chestnuts The jacket potato seller calling out his wares Stall after stall of enticing Christmas gifts Public houses advertise their Christmas fayre
Everyone rushing around that last minute shop An angel decoration there with lights on its wings A carol service from the local church proclaiming The birth of the Messiah in the songs they sing
The priest delivers his sermon of peace and good will A message that all men should be free The Cristingle service bringing light Happy children under the Christmas tree
Preparation's being done for the Christmas meal Brussel sprouts does anyone really like eat them Christmas cake laced in alcohol, so nice The plum pudding holds a secret surprise
Everyone then falls asleep and snores While the queen makes her 3 pm speech The sherry is out and grandma is dancing To rock around the Christmas tree again
